Who should submit for location listing?

The Grand Junction Film Commission continually seeks distinctive properties and businesses to include in our Location Gallery. Have you ever received compliments about your property’s picturesque, scenic, or uniqueness? Well, that’s precisely what we’re interested in. Our region boasts a rich diversity of environments, and our definition of “locations” encompasses private residences, expansive properties, eateries, hotels, bars, and other unique properties and businesses.

Benefits of submitting your location?

By listing your property with the Grand Junction Film Commission, you open the door for location scouts and producers to explore the diverse rural, urban, western, desert, and mountainous landscapes that our region showcases. Featuring your property in a film, commercial, or various digital media projects can bring you a range of advantages, including:

  • Earn Location Fees: Generate income through location fees for using your property in productions.
  • Attract Additional Customers: Your property’s exposure in media projects can draw new customers and increase your visibility.
  • Gain Exposure: Showcase your property to a broader audience and garner attention from those seeking unique and appealing locations.
  • Elevate Bravado: Being featured in film and media can enhance your property’s prestige and add a touch of distinction to its identity.
What if my property is selected?

If your property is chosen as a location, it’s essential to have a preliminary discussion and ask some critical questions. Each property and production company has unique requirements, so additional information may be necessary. Here are some essential inquiries to consider:

  • What are the Production Company’s name and the production’s title?
  • Who is the primary contact at the production company, and what are their phone number and email address?
  • What type of production is it?
  • How many shoot dates are planned, including shoot hours per day and any necessary prep days?
  • Can you request a detailed description of the activities in the scenes involving your property?
  • How many crew members, cast, and vehicles will be present on-site?
  • Does the production company have proper insurance coverage for the shoot?

What should I charge for my location?

Productions vary in crew size and budgets. Indie films usually have small crews and low budgets, whereas a large studio feature film usually has higher budgets and larger crews. When determining how much to charge for location fees, keep in mind the following criteria as they relate to you and your business:

  • The cost of additional staffing
  • Any loss of business (if applicable)
  • The cost of utilities
  • Will the production utilize your furnishings
